Recognize a Concussion

Recognizing a concussion allows concussion managers and group leaders to effectively implement the organization's protocol for removing participants from sport, ensuring their well-being.


If the participant doesn't show any signs or symptoms of a concussion, the user will be given the option to 'resume' their participation in sport or 'remove' them if necessary. However, if the participant exhibits any signs or symptoms of a concussion, the user will be required to promptly remove them from sport.


Removing a participant from sport will update their status from 'active' to 'removed' and will require a medical assessment to ensure their safety and proper care.


Remember: Group leaders can only recognize a concussion for participants that are in their group.


Please note that the signs and symptoms below are Parachute's protocol and are for demo purposes. Your organization's concussion protocol may be different from the one you see below.


  1. Select "Recognize a Concussion"


  1. Click "Recognize a Concussion"


  1. Select the participant


  1. Review the red flags and select any that are present


Alert: If red flags are present in a participant, CAPT will prompt you to remove them from sport immediately and display your sports organization's emergency instructions.


  1. Review the remaining signs and symptoms of a concussion. Select those that apply.


  1. If there were no signs or symptoms of a concussion observed, you will be provided with the option to "Resume" or "Remove". If you believe the participant may be concussed, select "Remove". If signs or symptoms were present, you will only be provided with the option to "Remove".
